In 2022, award winning producer, author and media executive Michelle D. Hord released her debut memoir "The Other Side of Yet" on Atria Books. Michelle’s story of resilience is the subject of the intensely personal testimony, which she shares in hopes that others can also find courage and strength on the other side of their own personal "yets." She has been featured in O Magazine, on The Tamron Hall Show, by Good Morning America's Robin Roberts -- and has shared her journey with audiences across the country. Hord has three decades of creative and executive experience at organizations and shows like NBCUniversal, Good Morning America, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. She’s also the founder of "Gabrielle's Wings," a nonprofit she created to honor her daughter Gabrielle Eileen, who was murdered by her father when she was just seven which is dedicated to giving children of color in vulnerable communities the tools they need to soar above their circumstances and embodies every mother’s dreams for her child to grow and thrive without limitations.

Michelle Cassandra Johnson is an activist, social justice warrior, author, anti-racism consultant and trainer, intuitive healer, and yoga teacher and practitioner. She has led dismantling racism work in many settings, along with practice as a clinical social worker during the same period. Michelle’s work centers on healing from individual and collective trauma, coming back into wholeness and aligning the mind, body, spirit, and heart.

Dr. Gail Parker is a psychologist, yoga therapist educator, a lifelong practitioner of yoga and the current president of the Black Yoga Teachers Alliance (BYTA). She is well known for her pioneering efforts to blend psychology, yoga, and meditation as effective self-care strategies that can enhance emotional balance, and contribute to overall health and well-being. She is a faculty member in the Kripalu School of Integrative Yoga Therapy. She has appeared numerous times as a psychologist expert on nationally syndicated talk shows including the Oprah Winfrey Show and was recently featured on the cover of the Yoga Journal which is the premier global magazine for yoga practitioners worldwide.

Dr. Charmeka Newton is a fully licensed psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the School Counseling Program in the College of Human Education & Human Development at the University of North Dakota. Dr. Newton is also the owner of Legacy Mental Health Services, PLLC. She has over 10 years of experience in clinical, academic, and community settings, including teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels of higher education.
Dr. Janeé Steele is a licensed professional counselor, counselor educator, and diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. Dr. Steele is also the owner and clinical director of Kalamazoo Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, PLLC, where she provides therapy, supervision, and training in CBT. She is also the author of the upcoming book, Racism and African American Mental Health: Using Cognitive Behavior Therapy to Empower Healing.

In a professional writing career that spans more than twenty years, Marita Golden has distinguished herself as a novelist, essayist, teacher of writing and literary institution builder. She has written twenty books of nonfiction and fiction which includes Long Distance Life which was a best-seller and cited as a Best Book of the Year (by Washington Post critic Jonathan Yardley), A Woman’s Place, And Do Remember Me, and The Edge of Heaven. In the genre of nonfiction, Marita Golden has also edited three anthologies including Gumbo: An Anthology of African America Writing with E. Lynn Harris. She has also been a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show and her articles and essays have appeared in Essence Magazine, the New York Times and The Washington Post. Additionally, Marita founded and served as the first president of the Washington-D.C. based African American Writers Guild. Since 1990 she has headed the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation, which presents the nation’s only national fiction award for college writers of African descent and an annual summer writer’s workshop for Black writers, Hurston/Wright Writers’ Week, as well as the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award for published Black writers.
